The Guest of Quesnay [Inscribed}

New York: The McClure Company, 1908. W. J. Duncan. First Edition. Red grain cloth. Front cover gilt stamped. Very Good. Item #39

A very good, collectable, inscribed copy of one of Booth Tarkington's best-known novels. First edition inscribed “1939” below signature on the half title page. In The Guest of Quesnay Tarkington describes cultural changes in the Unites States “as the moneyed aristocracy gave way to the up-and-coming robber barons and titans of industry.” Binding is solid but relaxed. Two small white discolorations and a faint shadow of moisture to the lower half of the front cover. The upper edge of the rear cover has a 1” semicircular discoloration. Shelf wear to edges. Gilt cover stamping shows some light fading to the lower right quarter. Half-inch initials penned on the rear paste down at the hinge.

Price: $125.00
