TRAVIS S. METHENY, OWNER

Memento Mori Fine and Rare books is a veteran-owned online bookstore operating out of historic Stafford, Virginia.  Travis' Stafford roots go back to 1684 when Daniel Mathena and his family farmed the Hope Land along the banks of Aquia Creek.  Travis is a lifelong bibliophile and former Air Force Photojournalist having spent nearly three decades with the United States Armed Forces.

As a teenager growing up in Richmond, Travis began collecting the works of Howard P. Lovecraft after being introduced to the author through Chaosium’s award-winning horror role-playing game Call of Cthulhu.  Over the next 30 years he would amass a substantial collection of rare books related to the man from Providence.  As his collection neared a reasonable completion, he expanded his interests to include works on existentialism, Victorian literature, horror fiction, and just about anything that fascinated him.  Travis decided many years ago that he would one day monetize his collection to fund future acquisitions and his ultimate retirement venture in bookselling.  The online store you have come to today is the beginning of this venture.

Travis is a graduate of Eastern Washington University having earned a bachelor’s degree in Literary Studies and a Master’s degree in Management and Leadership from Webster University.
