Looking Backward
Providence, Rhode Island: Necronomicon Press, 1980. Jason Eckhardt. First/1st. Staple bound softcover in pictorial wraps. Fine. Item #304
Necronomicon Press' 1980 first printing of Looking Backward which was first serialized in The Tryout from February to July, 1920, and later in The Aonian. This Necro Press edition is a reproduction of the latter. In Looking Backward, Lovecraft reflects on the present state of amateur journalism and writes with admiration of the Halcyon Days" of the 1880s and 1890s. He discusses the propensity of writers to look back on previous ages from a seat of superiority. The five-part essay is a fine example of Lovecraft's critical literary acumen. [II-c-2].
