A scarce copy of this unique work published in 1898 and limited to only 100 copies. This work appeared 12 years after the death of the publisher’s founder John F. Sheiry. It was an anonymous work but is ascribed to Amos M. Judson, a clerk at the United States Treasury Department for more than 30 years. Judson is known for his 1865 History of the Eighty-Third Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteers. Sheiry’s widow, Laura, continued to operate the press after his sudden death following surgery to repair his fingers that were mauled in the printing press earlier that day. 14.8 cm x 23.1 cm. 120p. Perfect bound in brown paper wraps. This copy is softened and the corners with occasional chipping to page corners. Spine ends are chipped and have a bit of loss. Spine titles, if there were any, are no longer visible. Covers have areas of smudging and creasing. Pages are toned but free of marks. [Loc: II.b.6].
