New York, NY: Beagle Books, 1971. Trade Paperback. Very Good. Item #18
The scarce 1971 boxed set of Beagle Books’ Arkham Edition of H. P. Lovecraft. This set includes the Beagle Boxer Horror Collection second editions of The Tomb, At the Mountains of Madness, The Lurking Fear, and The Lurker at the Threshold as well as the first Beagle Boxer edition of The Case of Charles Dexter Ward (as issued). All five volumes are in very good condition with sharp corners and bright yellow edge staining. The Lurking Fear has one crease down the spine where it was opened too far. All others appear unread. Some spots on the covers as well as the slip case appear to have been touched up. The touch ups only appear when viewing askance and do not affect the shelf appearance. This collection of Beagle Books’ in the original slipcase rarely comes on the market. When they do the paper covering the slipcase is usually battered and the boards split. This slipcase is in remarkable condition with only the lightest shelf wear and touchups as mentioned previously.
